PTSD

Trauma is more common than most people realize. It can derive from many causes, including childhood abuse or neglect, sexual assault, military conflict, motor vehicle accidents, and even natural catastrophes.

Exposure to traumatic events like these can result in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - a debilitating condition with recurrent symptoms. PTSD sufferers can experience flashbacks, nightmares, mood disturbances, anxiety, hostility, loss of pleasure in activities, and profound feelings of guilt. People afflicted with PTSD struggle to “move forward” in life, or oftentimes engage in self-destructive behaviors.

Without proper Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder treatment, PTSD can be a life-long battle that may lead to other problems, such as violence, severe addiction to drugs and alcohol, and even suicide. However, PTSD is treatable when individuals receive the right combination of therapies, in order to develop effective coping skills and emotional processing tools.

Dr. Lawrence is adept at identifying and treating post-trauma reactions while remaining sensitive to the unique needs of individuals and families affected by these conditions.

At The Lawrence Wellness Center, we offer outpatient care for trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder treatment, for virtually all levels of trauma severity. Everyone experiences trauma differently, so every case of traumatization requires its own unique clinical approach and combination of therapies. Our rigorous clinical programming might be coupled with holistic services to help the body, mind, and spirit all heal together.

 Trauma patients can expect:

  • Each client receives an individualized treatment plan that addresses the full spectrum of needs for their trauma and any trauma-related conditions.

  • Intensive but supportive trauma-specific psychotherapy sessions are held in a safe, nurturing environment.

  • If appropriate, clients may simultaneously participate in our Eating Disorder Treatment Program or our Outpatient Addiction Treatment Program, to ensure that all mental health conditions are properly treated.

  • Clients can expect to receive advanced outpatient therapy methods, such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as a full spectrum of adjunct holistic therapies that help clients improve mood, reduce stress, and build important mental wellness skills.
